The communications and technology world have taken a dramatic change in recent years. It seems as if it was very recently that having a personal cell phone was unheard of. They were mainly only for the military and the extremely wealthy. Now it’s unheard of to not have a personal cell phone.
Also the quality of the things we used to communicate has increased rapidly with the increase of technology. Just think about the cell phone that you had when you first got a cell phone. Now compare it to the cell phone that you currently have, which is probably close by to you. There’s a big difference between the two isn’t there?
We can also think about the time whenever people could only communicate through morse code. The only other way to communicate with someone far away was by using the mail. This was back when mail was carried by horseback, so it took much longer for mail to be received. In today’s society you can simply send an email and the person will receive it literally seconds later on their phone.
There’s also been a lot of advancement in video chatting technology. There is now this new technology that allows doctors to have video chatting with their patients while the doctor is out of the office and can’t see the patient in person.
I remember that recently there was a surgery that was done in which the doctor did the surgery from hundreds of miles away with the help of video cameras and robotic arms. It’s amazing to see how far technology has come and to anticipate what we have in store for the future.
A lot of us feel left out because we don’t have the newest high tech phones, but something better seems to always come out every few months. So don’t worry if you’re not up on the latest technology, because it usually goes out of date quickly.
